Russia's controversial, contemporary clown ensemble Derevo has already enjoyed great success at the Mime Festival with its apocalyptic The Red Zone (1998), and in contrasting style with Once (1999), a fairy tale about love. In this electrifying new solo show, Derevo founder member Tanya Khabarova revisits the elemental, twilight landscape of The Red Zone. With extraordinary charisma, silent force, and drawing on a mastery of butoh and raw commedia, she reveals the darker side of clown theatre.
