Inspired
in part by Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator, Nola Rae's
latest wordless comic drama deals with dangerous charisma and
how to get it! Exit Napoleon sees the clown follow a well-worn
trail towards absolute power and absolute disaster.
Born in Sydney, Nola came to London to study at the Royal Ballet
School, and later with Marcel Marceau in Paris. In a thirty year
career her successful blend of comic physical theatre, dance,
puppetry and witty observation has delighted audiences in more
than sixty countries. She premiered her first solo show at the
Festival du Monde in Nancy, France, in 1975, and was recently
inducted into America's International Clown Hall of Fame. She
has also been honoured with a Total Theatre Lifetime Achievement
Award.
This
piece is endlessly inventive. High speed humour and marvellous
characterisation.'
