Shows for people
with hearing impairment

Most of the shows in the Mime Festival have little or no spoken text. What you see with the eye is far more important than what can be heard. Some of shows do have an important musical accompaniment, but hearing loops are fitted in the theatres.

If you are hearing impaired, then we especially suggest the following shows for you:

JEAN-BAPTISTE ANDRE at the Purcell Room
NOLA RAE at Croydon Clocktower and the Purcell Room
LES WITLOOF at the Corn Exchange Newbury and the Purcell Room
STEPHEN MOTTRAM at the Purcell Room
FAMILIE FLOEZ at the Purcell Room
TRICICLE at the Queen Elizabeth Hall (N.B. there is a short 'voice-over' during a film as part of the show (approx 5 mins), but this text will be available in written form for you if you need it).
AKHE at the ICA
CAMILLE BOITEL at the ICA (N.B. there is a short section of the show where he speaks gibberish!).
KITT JOHNSON at the ICA
MATHURIN BOLZE at Laban
CIRCUS SPACE CABARET Sun 30 January BSL interpreted performance
MOMENTUM at BAC (N.B. there is a short voice-over of a poem, read in Greek, which will also be available in written form).
LES ENFANTS DU PARADIS (film) at the Ciné Lumiere has English sur-titles.
GECKO at BAC has a small amount of text, like Taylors Dummies did if you saw their last show. This will be available in written form.

LESS SUITABLE SHOWS:
Please note that Another Dream by Raimund Hoghe, contains some spoken text, in English, read by Raimund, plus many songs from the Sixties. There is an induction loop fitted in the theatre, but some of the spoken text may be difficult to pick up.
Avoid the lecture-demonstration on the history of mime by Theatre du Mouvement which is full of spoken text and will be performed in French, making BSL interpreting impractical. Sorry!

If you want to double-check the suitability of any shows before you commit to buying tickets and making your travel plans, please do contact us and ask about any specific issues which will help you to make your decision.
